»The surah that opens with the mention of God as the Lord of Humans and teaches one to seek refuge in Him from the whisperings of Satan and those of evil jinn and people. 1

قُل أَعوذُ بِرَبِّ النّاسِ

ALI UNAL

This sūrah of six verses was revealed in Madīnah. Its name comes from the word an-nās (humankind), which recurs throughout. It teaches us how to seek refuge with God from the secret devices of Satan or similar beings, and it is the last sūrah of the Holy Qur’ān.

Say: “I seek refuge in the Lord of humankind,

BIJAN MOEINIAN

Say: “I seek refuge in mankind’s Teacher (i.e., God).

E. H. PALMER

Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of men,

FARIDUL HAQUE

Proclaim (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “I take refuge of the One Who is the Lord of all mankind.”

This chapter was revealed on the same occasion, and at the same time with the former.

  1. The whisperer who slyly withdraweth;] i.e. The devil; who withdraweth when a man mentioneth God, or hath recourse to his protection.

5

الَّذی یُوَسوِسُ فی صُدورِ النّاسِ

ALI UNAL

“Who whispers into the hearts of humankind,1

  1. This sūrah teaches us to be most alert to the temptations and secret devices of Satan and Satan-like people (see 6: 112). With all the means at their disposal, they will do their utmost to lead us astray from God’s way into their own evil ways, to commit sins, to bring about dissension among us, and to do other things to cause us harm both in the world and the Hereafter. The best way to be protected against their devices and temptations is to believe in God as our Lord (Creator, Sustainer, Master) and Absolute Sovereign, Who has the absolute right to rule us, and Who, as the sole Deity, has the exclusive right to be worshipped. Then, we must act according to this faith. (For some of the ways in which Satan approaches us, in order to lead us astray, see sūrah 7: 17, note 2.)

MIR AHMED ALI

Say:1 I seek refuge in the Lord of the people!

  1. This Sura is identical with the previous one, Sura 113. The matter is supplementary to that of the previous Sura.
Man is asked to seek refuge in God with His name as ‘Rab’, i.e., the Lord of Men—i.e., the Cherisher and Sustainer. Invoking this great attribute, man can expect a specially paternal treatment.

The1 God of the people!

  1. To seek the protection invoking the divinity of the Lord as the God of mankind—for it is God’s authority which must necessarily be obeyed, i.e., it is His command or His will which is always done.

MAJID DARYABADI

Whether of Jinn or of mankind.

MIR AHMED ALI

(Be he)1 From among the Jinn and the Men.2

  1. See 6:112, 41:29. Be the evil doers, the Jinns or human beings. It is well-known fact that among the forces hidden from the human eye, which are active in the world, there are good and also bad ones among them. Jinns, like Satan are spiritual beings.
    1. END. All my notes from the beginning upto here, may be considered as a crude attempt to understand what the literal wording of the Qur’an, appears to out limited mind, and to convey. Otherwise the whole life of the most learned divines would not do justice to what Qur’an contains and conveys. It is the Final Word of God, to mankind as a whole, for all times until the Day of Judgment. If there be any mistake it will be mine (A.P.)

birth and Early life of imam hassan

Hasan was born in the year 625 and grew up in Medina with his parents. According to Shiite belief theirs was the only house thatarchangel Gabriel allowed to have a door to the courtyard of the Al-Masjid al-Nabawi, the Mosque of the Prophet.[7] Both Shia andSunni Muslims consider Hasan to belong to the Ahl al-Bayt (literally: People of the House), the family of Muhammad, and to the Ahl al-Kisa (literally: People of the Cloak), the participants of the Event of Mubahala.[12]

It is said that Muhammad slaughtered a ram for the poor on the occasion of Hasan's birth, and chose the name Hasan for him.Fatimah shaved his head and gave the weight of his hair in silver as alms.[7][13]

There are many narrations showing the respect of Muhammad toward his grandsons, among which where his statement that his two grandsons would be the lords of the youth (sayyedā šabāb) of Paradise and that they were Imams "whether they stand up or sit down",[a][13][12][14] and also his prediction that Hasan would make peace between two factions of Muslims.[7] In his later years Hasan was one of the guards defending Uthman ibn Affan when the attackers went around him and killed him, and also participant of Battle of Siffin and Nahrawan alongside his father.[7][13][15]

Ahl al-Kisa[edit]

Main article: Event of Mubahala

In the year 10 AH (631/32 CE) a Christian envoy from Najran (currently in northern Yemen) came to Muhammad to argue which of the two parties erred in its doctrine concerning Isa (Jesus). After likening Jesus' miraculous birth to Adam's Adam's (Adem) creation,[b] — who was born to neither a mother nor a father — and when the Christians did not accept the Islamic doctrine about Jesus, Muhammad was instructed to call them to Mubahala where each party should ask God to destroy the false party and their families.[12][16] If anyone dispute with you in this matter [concerning Jesus] after the knowledge which has come to you, say: Come let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then let us swear an oath and place the curse of God on those who lie.[c][12][17] Sunnite historians, except Tabari who do not name the participants, mentionMuhammad, Fatimah, Hasan and Husayn, and some agree with the Shiite tradition that Ali was also among the participants of this event on the side of Muhammad. Accordingly in the verse of Mubahala the words "Our sons" is representative of Hasan and Husayn; "our women" would refer to Fatimah; and "ourselves" would be "Ali".[12

Hasan ibn `Ali ibn Abi Ṭalib (Arabic: الحسن بن علی بن أبی طالب ‎, 625–670 CE), commonly called Hasan, was the second Shiite Imam, succeeding his father Ali and preceding his younger brother Husayn ibn Ali

. He was the elder son of Ali and Muhammad's daughter,Fatimah. Muslims respect him as the grandson of Muhammad and a member of Ahl al-Bayt and Ahl al-Kisa.

After the death of his father, Hasan also succeeded him as Rashidun Caliph. He abdicated after six or seven months, and Muawiyah, who became the firstUmayyad Caliph, succeeded him.[7][8] For the rest of his life, Hasan lived in Medina in seclusion until he died at the age of 45 or 46, and was buried in the Al-Baqi' cemetery in Medina. His wife, Ja'da is commonly accused of having poisoned him at the instigation of Muawiyah

Upbringing of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (as): Amirul Momineen (Commander of the faithful)

Upbringing of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (as)Amirul Momineen (Commander of the faithful), Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (as) was born three  years before the marriage of Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) with Hazrat Khadija
then he (as) moved to Holy Prophet Muhammad's (saw) house because of the financial crisis which befell his father, Hazrat Abu Talib  ibn Abdul Muttalib.

Since that early age, Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (as) lived with the Messenger of Allah (saw). It was there that he spent his teens and adolescence during which he was a close observer of all the developments that happened in the life of the Messenger of Allah (saw).

So, Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib's (as) education was not an ordinary one, nor one which a normal child receives from his father, or elder brothers. The training and instruction he received was very special and it suffices to know that he followed Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) like his shadow, even during periods of exclusive privacy inside the grotto of the Hira Mountain where the mental and spiritual developments were witnessed through which Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) was passing.

Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (as) referred to the vast dimensions of the education he received at the hands of his guide, the Messenger of Allah (saw) in one of his speeches known by the title "Al-Qasi'ah" (censure):

"...you know what my relations with the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) were. From the very beginning of my life, he loved me and I loved him. He took me in his lap when I was a baby and thence I was always with him. He often kept me embraced to his heart. He used to lay me next to him. We used to be so close to each other that I felt the warmth of his body and smelled the fragrance of his odor. When I was a baby, he fed me with his hands, often chewing hard bits for me. He never found me lying nor weak and wavering. From the time of his [Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw)] infancy, Allah (SWT) had appointed the greatest of His angels to always be with him, and His Arch Angel was leading him towards exemplary qualities and high moral values, and I followed him (saw) step by step as a baby camel follows its mother. Daily he used to place before me a fresh standard of efficiency and used to order me to follow it. Every year he used to stay in a grotto of the Hira Mountain for some time, and nobody used to be with him but me. None could then see or hear him but me. During those days Islam was the religion of only the Prophet and his wife, Khadija. I was the third of the trio. Nobody else in this world had accepted Islam. Even then I used to see the divine light of revelation and prophethood and smell the heavenly fragrance of prophethood."

Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (as) was so pure in spirit and straightforward in morality, according to the education he received from the Messenger of Allah (saw), that many shadows of the hidden future were lighted before him. He (as) says: "...When Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) received the first revelation, Satan lamented so loudly that I asked Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw): Who is lamenting and why? He (saw) replied, 'It is Satan who has given up hopes of acquiring complete sway over human minds. In his disappointment, he is lamenting over the chance lost. Verily Ali, you also hear whatever I hear, and you see whatever I see; only you are not a prophet. But you are my wazir (minister), successor and helper, and you will always hold the truth and justice."

In his own words, this text reveals how Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (as), during his childhood, was treated by Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) with care, tenderness and self-denial. Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) went to the extent of chewing morsels of food and putting them in Imam Ali's mouth, holding him in his arms and treating him as though he were his own beloved son.
